A granite rock dissolving in a reaction diffusion pattern. That thing is huge - the included white spots are 5 - 10 cm fieldspar crystals. (St. Andrea, Elba)
Giant feldspar crystal, but seemingly no correspondingly giant quartz cystals... or am I missing something. Does this count as a pegmatite? The waethering pf granites can be very interesting. One of the things that Harare in Zimbabwe has going for it is its proximity to the balancing rocks [link] . The granite coastline was what I liked most about the Cornish peninsular as well.
Not sure about the pegmatite but I guess not - it's missing tourmalines and beryls Thank you for the link to the balancing rocks. There's nothing like climbing through giant rocks. A great place where I live is Felsenlabyrinth Luisenburg and some great places where alpine glaciers are melting.
I have to admit that I'm not happy if a pic doesn't look like a fish
So it seems nature always has been what I'm striving for - fish, rocks, plants. That's the amazing patterns that make me feel at home when watching them.
